These come, ex-factory, in a standard HQ12m container configuration. The unit will generally weigh about 22,000kg all up and can be transported by road and delivered to site by a standard side loader. If using a normal semi-trailer you will need the services of a crane on site to remove the unit from the truck.
'AAA-Class' Range: With the average weight of the completed basic house at 22,000kg the units need proportionately more support and restraint. The container base is fitted with container corner blocks to each corner while the fold down floor panels have 3 container corner blocks fitted to their outside longitudinal edge, making 10 hold down points in total. We will supply container twist locks with reinforcing bar welded to underside or with 80x80x4SHS galvanised posts at a length you require. For our standard engineer designed footings we do not recommend having the units more than 1100mm above nominal ground level. The main container base will require support at approximately 3000c/s between corner hold downs (3 pcs) along each side whilst the folded out floor sections will require a further support at midpoint between the container hold down points making two per side. Our concept is for units to be anything from 300mm to 70mm above ground level. A brochure on footings and their spacing is available. However a client will need to engage the services of an engineer to determine which set of details are suitable for any one site. A client will also need to determine from the local authorities whether a soil test will be required and what services such as power, telephones and sewerage is available. Any soil test will need to be carried out by a qualified practitioner.
Once the container units is placed on its supports the lifting and lowering of the roof and floor panels can be managed with simple mechanical leverage and chain blocks. These works will take about 4 hours. However the fitting of internal and external wall panels could take 2 days. Final fit-out and finishing off should be achieved in a further 5 days depending on inclusions and associated works.
Veranda extensions can be placed to individual requirements and is a simple exercise though it will entail extra work and time. The verandahs are of a light construction but large roof area and require more restraint than the central building and this will entail a post or pedestal every 3000 in length of veranda fitted.
